Une th\u00e9orie des ornements et non de l&#8217;ornement se construit dans l&#8217;\u00e9tude des motifs, la connaissance des productions qu&#8217;un long voyage en Italie et l&#8217;observation des demeures berlinoises ont procur\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;auteur.<\/p>\n<p>Moritz montre que la pens\u00e9e de l&#8217;ornement est une pi\u00e8ce ma\u00eetresse de la r\u00e9flexion esth\u00e9tique sur la beaut\u00e9. \u00c0 l&#8217;oppos\u00e9 de l&#8217;all\u00e9gorie, les ornements sont des formes libres qui n&#8217;imitent rien, qui n&#8217;ont pas de signification.
